Yes! There are Democrats in Baldwin County!
As we move into 2025, Baldwin County Democrats will focus on the counties, cities, school districts and library boards in the communities we call home. We’re shining a light on the issues that shape our lives as we go about our days in our coastal paradise.
We’ll be fighting to:
* Work to expand Medicaid, reverse the tide of closing hospitals and address healthcare disparities like our state’s maternal health crisis that disproportionately impacts Black mothers and infants
* Protect our environment from runaway development
* Advocate for reproductive rights
* Protect our teachers and librarians from censorship, close the achievement gap, increase teacher salaries and preserve freedom of thought
* Create jobs that pay a living wage and develop job training programs
* Support the LGBTQ+ community
* Promote common-sense gun control
* Get Democratic candidates on the ballot
Baldwin County Democrats are dismayed to find no Democratic candidates on the ballot. Changing that is Job One.
Right now, we are recruiting candidates for municipal and state house races over the next two years. We have some excellent prospects seriously eying runs; announcements coming soon after the first of the year. As those races and filing deadlines roll quickly closer, we’ll need cash to fuel their campaigns. State and national parties don’t fund local campaigns, so we’ll need to rely on resources. Fortunately, Baldwin County is blessed with abundant resources.
So, there will be doors to knock, phones to ring, texts to write, flyers to hand out, event tables to set up and take down. There will be meetings where we can connect, strategize and simply enjoy the company of like-minded folks.
Of course, political campaigns cost money, so there are cash contributions to be made. Baldwin County Democrats just gave our Website a facelift to portray a more dynamic public presence. We’re investing in campaign software that allows us to target just the right voters and bring them to the polls. We’re organizing voter registration booths at local events and planning public rallies. We’re buying banners and buttons and promotional items and flyers.
Your work and your contributions will go to support causes and candidates that will fight to uphold reproductive rights, promote racial and LGBTQ equality, protect us from gun violence, bring healthcare to all and work to elect Democrats who can change the oppressive right-wing power structure in Alabama.
