The Alabama Public Library Service board will be meeting on Jan. 30, and we need you to help us pack the room. ICYMI, our public libraries are currently under attack by a vocal minority who want to restrict other people’s children’s access to content they find objectionable. Having been thwarted at the local level, they are appealing to state lawmakers — and they even got Gov. Ivey involved when she sent a letter to the APLS with several policy proposals dealing with “inappropriate” content in the library. Your comments and visible support at the APLS board meeting will send a powerful message that loud extremist groups like Moms For Liberty do not speak for all Alabamians — or even all moms.
